Week 24: Pine Nuts!

Week 24 Summary: The numbers have been run through the end of Week 24. Standings, Leaders, and team pages are current. Six Lazyman teams managed to exceed 400 points. The Full-Year contest seems to be somewhat certain while the 2nd Half contest has a little more possibility for things to change heading to the last week of the season. Both contests are headlined by Werp’s Crew in first and CAB’s Coolers in second.

Grab Some Pine Nuts! took top honors by scoring 448 points and to move up 10 slots in the 2nd Half standings. The Pine Nuts (Sabastopol, CA) were led by Mike Clevinger (61), JD Martinez (50), Spencer Strider (42), Bryce Harper (40), and five others who tallied 30 or more points. Marc, congrats on the outstanding week!

Cracking the top three for the second week in a row are the Limpid Jets of Love from Battle Ground, WA. The Jets posted 438 points behind Clevinger, Zac Gallen (43), Strider, and Nick Castellanos (48). Three others were north of 30 points. The Jets moved into 6th place in the Full-Year and 10th in the Second-Half. Derek, keep it going!

Taking 3rd on the past week is Beef and Broccoli from Cleveland, OH, with 430 points. B&B also had Clevinger and Strider, while Michael Wacha chipped in with 42 points and three others went for more than 30. B&B moved into 9th place in the Second-Half, 44 points out of prize territory. Matt, great week!

Honorable mention goes to Werp’s Crew (429), Arrow’s Buenos Huevos (423), and Bellzano (419). In the Full-Year, Werp’s Crew holds a commanding lead over CAB’s Coolers in the standings. The real battle is for 7th place with four teams within 26 points of each other. In the Second-Half, Werp’s Crew is 58 points ahead of the Coolers, while the Passion Warriors are 10 points behind CAB. Good luck everyone!

Week 23: Coolers Heat Up

Week 23 Summary: Standings, Leaders, and team pages are current through the end of Week 23. Two more weeks! That Second Half crown is going to come down to the wire.

CAB’s Coolers get the headlines for Week 23 by piling up 419 points. An ace in Brandon Woodruff (59), solid pitching, and timely hitting brought the club from Mendocino into 2nd place in the Full Year contest and 3rd in the Second Half, only 15 points behind the leader. Charles, great week!

Finishing the week with the silver and bronze medals are the Limpid Jets of Love and Fungoed Martians, scoring 406 and 403 respectively. Crash Davis would be proud! The Jets moved into 10th in the Full Year and and 14th in the Half. The Martians climbed into a tie for 7th and into 11th. Both teams are from Battle Ground, WA. Both teams featured Juan Soto and his big tally of 53 points and a few players that scored over 30. And, both teams are owned by the same person. Derek, congratulations on the fabulous week and the potential to earn some prizes.

Werp’s Crew was the other team to crack 400 points with 402, building up a 100 point cushion in the Full Year contest and taking over 1st in the Second Half, by a tight three points. Good luck to all!

Week 22: Warriors, Again

Week 22 Summary: Numbers have been run through the end of Week 22. Standings, Leaders, and team pages are current. Only three more weeks in the season!

The Passion Warriors had three ace hurlers on the hill in Week 22. Zac Gallen (49), Justin Steele (44), and Pablo Lopez (42) were the top three scoring pitchers in all of Lazyman. Matt Olson (46) and five other batters scored north of 30 points. The team from Everett, WA, piled up 470 points, which is more than 100 over the league average. The Warriors moved back into first place in the Second Half contest, 68 points ahead of the Meatballs, and into second in the Full Year contest, 115 points behind Werp’s Crew.

Speaking of the Meatballs, the team from Mendocino posted 430 points to earn the silver in Week 22. Steele and Merrill Kelly (40) were the top scorers in a balanced attack. The Meatballs jumped seven spots in the Full Year into prize territory and sixth place, and second in the Second Half. Bruce, great week!

With 427 points, Chief Wahoo took the bronze in Week 22 and moved up numerous spots in both contests. The squad that hails from Shaker Heights, OH, were led by Pablo Lopez and five others who scored more than 30 points. Michael, congrats on the nice week!

Week 21: Hot Stuff!

Week 21 Summary: Numbers are up! Team pages, Standings, and Leaders are current through the end of Week 21. The trade deadline for the season was prior to first pitch today. We are done with trading for the 2023 season. No transactions were submitted.

The average Lazyman team put 361 points on the board in Week 21. Eight teams scored 400 or more points. Werp’s Crew now leads the Full Year and Second Half contests! Four more weeks to go – good luck everyone.

In Week 21, Stuff led the pack with a stellar 455 points. The team from Tarzana, CA, moved up the standings eleven spots in the 2nd Half and five in the Full Year. Stuff was led by Ronald Acuna (57), Blake Snell (52), and Alex Cobb (40). Three others scored more than 30 and no players scored less than 20. Glenn, great week!

Big Deal of Vancouver, WA, jumped nine rungs into 6th place and prize territory in the Second Half by scoring 430 points on the week. Acuna and Snell were the team’s top performers while four others went for 30 or more. Jim, that is a great deal!

Taking the bronze this past week was Team Vizzini with 428 points. The squad from Gainesville, FL, move from 17th to 7th in the Second Half behind Acuna and three others with more than 40. No players scored less than 20 in the well-balanced line-up. Team Vizzini also moved into 10th in the Full Year contest. Ken, great week! Barbie would be proud.

Honorable mentions go out to the other five that broke the 400-point mark of excellence in Week 21. Congrats to Snyde Remarcs, Meatballs, Sidd Finch, Flying JJs, and Werp’s Crew. We are heading into the final stretch. Get those trades in!

Week 20 Summary: Only one trade was submitted for Week 21. The trade deadline for the season is prior to first pitch for Week 22 on Labor Day.

Topping the charts in Week 20 were the Leaping Montoya’s from Sebastopol, CA, by scoring 429 points. The Montoya’s moved up the Second Half standings an impressive 11 spots. Adam Duvall (55) and Justin Verlander (49) led the team in scoring. Five other players posted totals of more than 30 points. Brian, great week!

Giant Bunch of Crazy took the silver in Week 20 with 414 points. The squad from Santa Rosa was the model of balance. Bryce Harper (44) was the top scorer and four players scored in the thirties, and no players scored below 20. The Crazies moved from 23rd into a tie for 13th in the Second Half. Chris, congrats on the fine week.

Bellzano scored 410 points to take 3rd on the Week. Also from Santa Rosa, Bellzano moved into prize territory (5th place) in the Full Year contest and just a position out in the Second Half (8th place). Bryce Harper and Alex Bregman (40). Jim and Johnny, keep the momentum going down the stretch.

Week 19: Cool to be Left Coast Nation

The top scoring team in Week 19 was Left Coast Nation from Mendocino, CA, with 415 points. That’s 82 points more than the league average for the week. Left Coast earned the big total by having this week’s top two sluggers in the line-up, Julio Rodriguez (63) and Bobby Witt (49). Rafeal Devers (39), Ezequiel Tovar (33), and Merrill Kelly (32) also broke through with nice weeks of their own. The big week for Left Coast enabled them to soar up the standings 13 places in the 2nd Half contest and five spots in the Full Year. Left Coast was also the top scoring team in Week 5. Wendy, congratulations on the great week!

Finishing with the silver was CAB’s Coolers with 406 points. The Coolers are also from Mendocino, and the same household as Left Coast! The Coolers moved up a few spots and are sitting in 3rd place in both the Full Year and Second Half contests. Julio, Paul Goldschmidt (35), Tyler Glasnow (32), and Tovar paced the scoring. Charlie, way to go!

The 3rd and final team to crack 400 points on the week was the Milk Duds from Everett, WA. The Duds gained six positions in the standings for both contests in an otherwise dud of a season. Julio, Matt Scherzer (34) and Teoscar Hernandez (32) were the team’s top players. The top scoring teams in Week 19 all had Julio Rodriguez and his monster output. Go Mariners!

Week 18 Summary – Four trades were submitted for Week 19 and are listed on the Transactions page. The trade deadline for the season is Labor Day – Monday, September 4.

What do you get when you have three players score 50 plus points and five players on Week 18’s All-Star team? Yep, a whole bunch of points – 471 of them in the case of Sidd Finch. That huge total blew away the rest of the league and was 107 more than league average. The team from Battle Ground, WA, moved from 19th into 4th place in the Second Half and from 11th into 4th place in the Full Year contest. Freddy Peralta (53), Pablo Lopez (50), and Ozzie Albies (52) led the charge for Sidd Finch. Alysha, amazing week! Keep it up.

The Passion Warriors (Everett, WA) continued their lucky streak with 449 points, good enough for second place in Week 18. The Warriors maintained their hold on first in the Second Half and moved into second in the Full Year, 52 points behind Werp’s Crew. Matt Olson (54), Pablo Lopez, Pete Alonso (44), and Kyle Tucker (40) were the team’s top performers.

Climbing into second place in the Second Half is BigDogLP from Windsor, CA, by scoring 440 points. The rookie franchise also had the tandem of Peralta and Lopez on the hill to accumulate big numbers, but this team’s effort was all about balance. All but one player score 20 or more points, with five going for 30 or more. Larry, great week!

A grand total of nine teams broke the 400-point barrier. As a result, much of the standings in prize territory has been shuffled. This is going to be fun down the stretch! Good luck.

The Passion Warriors had nine players score over 30 points in Week 17 and scored a total of 440 points to take top honors for the week. The 440 points was over 80 more than the league average of 359.2. The team from Everett, WA, increased their lead in the 2nd Half contest to 84 points and moved into fourth place in the Full Year standings. Justin Steele (39) led the pitching staff while Matt Olson (41) and Adolis Garcia (40) were the top batsmen.

Finishing second in Week 17 was 6Minutes/Inning with 424 points. 6Minutes/Inning moved from ninth up to second place in the 2nd Half. Kyle Gibson (45) and Cody Bellinger (47) headlined the statistical barrage for the team based in Kirkland, WA. Dave, congrats on the great week!

Davidovich moved into a tie for 6th place in the 2nd Half by posting 406 points, good for the third highest total in Week 17. The first-year team from Sacramento, CA, rode the bats of Bellinger and Lane Thomas (41) in the impressive team effort. David, well done!

Week 16: Meatballs Mash

Week 16 Summary: Team pages, Leaders, and Standings are current through the end of Week 16. Seven trades were submitted for Week 17 and are posted on the Transactions page. In Week 16, a paltry 336.6 points was all the average Lazyman team could muster. Only two teams made it above 400 points, and barely above 400 at that.

The top seven teams in the Full Year contest got completely shuffled – no team is holding the same position as the week before. Werp’s Crew moved into 1st place, 60 points ahead of Roy Hobbs and 64 up on last week’s leader, Arrow’s Buenos Huevos. Standings were mixed up in Second Half as well. The Passion Warriors regained the top spot, 13 points ahead of Lewdo and 23 up on BigDogLP, last week’s front-runner.

The top-scoring team in Week 16 were the Meatballs from Mendocino, CA. The Meatballs posted 404 points and moved from 15th into 4th place in Second Half contest. Blake Snell (45) and Graham Ashcraft (31) paced the pitching staff. Pete Alonso (39) and Julio Rodriguez (36) were the team’s top hitters. Bruce, welcome back to the race!

Finishing second this past week is Stealin’ Home. The club from Fortuna, CA, put up 402 points, jumping 17 spots in Second Half. Steven Matz (32) and Ashcraft were top scoring hurlers. the big bats in the lineup included Alonso, Rodriguez, Whitt Merrifield (36), Marcel Ozuna (36), and Ronald Acuna (35). Dan, nice week!

Taking the bronze in Week 16 is Big Deal. Hailing from Vancouver, WA, Big Deal scored 393 points to climb the standings ladder by 19 rungs in Second Half. Snell, Tarik Skubal (30), Bobby Witt (38), Rodriguez, Acuna, and Shohei Ohtani (35) all put up big numbers. Jim, well done!

Week 15: Bat Intentions Heat Up

The average Lazyman team score in Week 15 was 515.5 points and 31 teams exceeded 500. In the Full Year contest, Werp’s Crew inched closer to the top and now sit only 13 points behind Arrow’s Buenos Huevos. BigDogLP took over first in the 2nd Half contest, just six points ahead of 6 Minutes/Inning.

The top-scoring team was Bat Intentions (Morgantown, WV) with 573 points. Bat Intentions moved up 20 slots in the Second Half standings from 47th to 27th. Check out the points scored by the infield: Josh Naylor (49), Ha-seong Kim (42), Bryson Stott (43), Max Muncy (44), and CJ Abrams (54). Trent Grisham added 42 from the outfield. Johan Duran (50) and Eduardo Rodriguez (44) were the team’s top pitchers. Thomas, great week!

6 Minutes/Inning took the silver in Week 15 with 572 points. The team from Kirkland, WA, moved into 2nd in the 2nd Half contest. Yu Darvish (49) and Eduardo Rodriguez led the pitching staff while Cody Bellinger (62), Tristan Casas (52), and Giancarlo Stanton (40) were the top hitters. Dave, congratulations on the fine week!

Beef and Broccoli finished with the third highest score on the week with 567 points, moving up 20 spots in the 2nd Half contest into 11th place.
